At his home in Fairfield, NB, surrounded by his loving family, Laurance Garth Withers passed away on June 30, 2020. He was born in 1946 to the late Nelson and Kathleen (Smith) Withers and felt blessed to have loving parents who brought him up in a Christian home.
Laurance was a member of the Fairfield Baptist Church, St. Martins Masonic Lodge, Progressive Conservative Party of NB, and Brown’s Cemetery Committee of Bain’s Corner, NB.
He was a life-long, self-employed trucker who loved his work. He shared his great wealth of knowledge and quick wit with his family and friends, and many will miss him recalling dates and events for them. His proud sons, Charlie and Paul, followed in their father’s footsteps in the trucking industry, and were thankful for all the wisdom and experience he bestowed on them.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth (Moody); son, Charles of Fairfield, NB; son, Paul (Natalie) and granddaughters, Olivia and Kendra of Gardner Creek, NB; step-daughter, Ruth Anne (late Rick March) and granddaughter, Kayla of Fall River, NS; step-son Andrew (Charlene) Moore, granddaughter, Jasmine, and grandson, Jesse of Fairfield, NB; brothers, Stuart (Chris) of Whitehorse, YK, and Malcolm (Debbie) of Fairfield, NB; sister, Angela (late Robert) Saunders of Quispamsis, NB; special cousin Carol Graves of Quispamsis, NB; along with several nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB. A private family graveside service in celebration of his life well be held at Brown’s Cemetery in Bain’s Corner, NB. Donations in his memory may be made to Brown’s Cemetery.
