Obituary of Beverly "Bev" Boyles

Bev passed away on July 16th, 2019 at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a brief illness.  Born in Barrie, ON, on the 4th of December, 1941, the son of the late Horace and Annabel Boyles.

Bev will be greatly missed by his wife, Lola; his sister-in-law, Norma Boyles of Rothesay, NB; his cherished cousins, Bobby Constantine (Susan) of Quispamsis, NB, Billy Coleman (Edrie) of  Bristol, NB and Margaret  Mills of Sussex, NB; as well as his stepchildren, Anne Furey (John), Sean Casey (Sherry), Kara Casey and Erin Casey Denis (Phil). He was predeceased by his brother Harry Boyles.

Bev graduated from Saint John High School and was about to attend his 60th reunion this year.  After working in Montreal, Toronto and Halifax, Bev returned to Saint John and founded his own company, East Coast Plastics.  ECP began as a screen printer but with the information technology revolution of the nineties it quickly incorporated digital imaging.  Bev took great pride in being on the cutting edge of technology and travelled to trade shows in Europe and the US to keep his knowledge leading edge, an undertaking he continued until his retirement.

In 2008 Bev went to Toronto with Lola to await a lung transplant.  On February 1st, 2010 he underwent a successful double lung transplant for which he constantly expressed the utmost gratitude, urging friends and strangers to sign their donor card.  Bev and Lola returned to their home in St. Andrews and continued to enjoy the friendship of so many wonderful people, until returning to Saint John in 2016.

At Bev’s request there will be no service but the family will welcome friends at their home, 26 Crown Hill Crescent, Saint John, NB, from 2 to 4 pm on Saturday, July 27th, 2019.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424).   For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Toronto Lung Transplant Civitan Club to support patients with lung transplant expenses (www.tltcc.com), Saint John SPCA Animal Rescue (www.SPCAAnimalRescue.com) or a charity of the donor’s choice.
