Verdena Borden

Obituary of Verdena Frances Borden

With saddened hearts we say, "until we meet again", to Verdena Frances Borden Shepherd, who went to be with JESUS, the morning of Aug 28 2020.  "Precious Lord, Take My Hand", her favorite hymn, was surely what her heart was singing, as she saw JESUS' face.  She was met in heaven by her husband Clyde Winsfield Shepherd, who passed July 12 2020, at Ridgewood Veterans Wing, her daughter Paula Kyle and her husband Ken, her grandson WD Shepherd, her grandson Michael George, her brothers Ron, Ivan, Almer, Lou, Alf and sister Joan.  She is survived by her sister Lean Lucas(Mike and their children), Vaughn Shepherd(JoAnn), Karen Shepherd, Scherry George(Edwardson, Sarah, Jonathon, Chantal, Remy, Khalil, Tkeyah, Jevion, Nshiya), Lynn French (Chris, Marsha, Jeff, Christian, Jacob, Naomi, Jordyn), Kevin Borden(Scott, Devin, Jynessa, Savannah), Bruce Kyle(Tina, Temptest, Ryver, Joseph), Dwight(Chris), Joey Brown(Clifton, Xander, Roslyn), Tony Reddick(and family).  Verdena's loving, family was her life and is her legacy.

Verdena, the cherished, matriarch of 5 generations, was loved by all who ever came to be in her presence. Mom loved JESUS and her heart held many, countless people who had adopted her as their mother or grandmother.  She opened her heart, her home, her wallet to help anyone who asked.  We have had no greater love, in our family, than our Mother...JESUS, we thank YOU for blessing us, by choosing her to be our Mother.  We acknowledge; Lynn, Mom's loving, daughter and constant care-giver and companion, for many years; Karen, for being her fearless, champion in crisis situations.  Usually it was "Karen and Mom in the a.m.", but this morning it was "JESUS and Mom in the a.m.", what an upgrade!!!  I imagine her saying this to her family - John 16:22

Thank you to Jerry Richard for the many drives to and from the hospital, no matter what time it was, and for his continual love and care for Mom over the years.  Thank you and our sincerest gratitude is all we have to give to Dr Keripe and the 3DS staff, who expressed so much love and care to and for Mom and they too were teary-eyed at her passing.

Mom, JESUS chose you, HIS daughter, to be a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, a great-great-grandmother. Mom thank you for your prayers, your love, your life. Please, give our love to all the family and friends, who have gone before and who ran to welcome you.  As we wave back, we say that we will remember you, XOXOXO until we meet again.
