Obituary of Nelda Maxine Hannah

With sadness, the family of Nelda Maxine Hannah, wife of the late C. Robert Hannah, announce her passing on October 3, 2020 at Parkland Shannex.

Born in Woodstock on April 2, 1926, she was the only child of the late Jay and Georgie (Britton) Dow. Growing up on a farm in Jacksontown, NB, Nelda was the apple of her father’s eye and loved her horse, Dixie. She met the love of her life, Bob, in first grade in Jacksonville. Nelda attended Mount Allison University, and worked for several years until Bob returned from serving in the Royal Canadian Air Force during WWII. They were married shortly thereafter in 1946 and grew their family together over the next decade. Nelda and Bob enjoyed golfing together, playing cards with their circle of friends, and were active in their church. Later in life, they enjoyed many winters in Florida. Nelda’s family was very important to her and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Nelda is survived by her daughter Paula Mathieson of Saint John, NB, son Carl Hannah (Shirley/Summer) of Blacksburg, VA, and daughter-in-law Joyce Hannah of Fredericton, NB; her four grandchildren, Kendra Hannah Meistrell (Walter), Jason Hannah (Melissa), Krystal Mathieson (Charles Curtis), and Carly Hannah; as well as her five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Nelda was predeceased by her parents, husband, son Kenneth Hannah, and grand-daughter Robin Mathieson.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424). Due to the current pandemic, there will be no visitation or funeral. Remembrances can be made to Romero House in Saint John, and online condolences may be placed at www.BrenansFH.com.
