Obituary of Katherine Lynn Vincent (Ritchie)

It is with great sadness the family of Katherine ”Kathy” Lynn Vincent (Ritchie), announce her passing on Sunday, November 29, 2020, at the Saint John Regional Hospital with her family by her side, after a long and hard fought battle with cancer. She was previously able to beat cancer three times and extended her most recent prognosis of months to two and a half years of time enjoyed with her loved ones. We are proud of her strength and determination, and are comforted to know that Kathy is now at peace.

Born on February 24, 1958, in Saint John, NB, Kathy is predeceased by her father, the late Elmer Ritchie. She is survived by her mother Grace Ritchie (Rogerson), her sister Carol Powers, her loving husband of 38 years, Peter, their two children, Sarah Vincent (Justin McManus), and Bradley (Kristy) Vincent and her pride and joy, her grandson, Gabriel. She is also survived by her mother-in-law Cora Vincent, her nephew Richard Powers (Gisele), great niece Amanda Hachey (Rob Hicks), great nephew Robert Hachey (Adena Andrews), as well as several other special family members. Kathy always cherished her time spent with family pets Mila, Max, Harlow and Piper.

Kathy was a graduate of Simonds High School. She was a selfless volunteer, always willing to step up and help. She was passionate about all things figure skating and made many great friends in the skating community with several remaining special to her even as she resigned her position this season. Kathy was especially proud of her more than 25 years as a volunteer, as a board member with the Quispamsis Figure Skating Club and Region 4 Board.

We wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to our very supportive family and friends. The guidance and care we received from Dr. London, Dr. Burnell, and Dr. Love was invaluable. We would also like to thank the staff and nurses of the chemo, extramural and palliative care teams for their compassion and care.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). Honoring Kathy’s wishes, we will not be holding visitation or funeral service. We plan to hold a celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the SPCA, the Quispamsis Figure Skating Club, or a charity of your choice. Online condolences may be placed at www.BrenansFH.com
