Obituary of Ian V. Lamont

It is with great sadness the family of Ian V. Lamont announces his passing on Sunday, November 29, 2020 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was the husband of Jean (London) Lamont for 63 loving years. Ian was born in Wirral, Carleton County, on October 19, 1934, and was the son of the late Thomas and Agnes (Downie) Lamont.

Ian was employed with CNR Truckers and retired from N.B. Housing. He enjoyed life, was a regular blood donor, belonged to R.O.A.B. for over 50 years, and loved music, dancing, bowling and playing 45’s. Most of all, he loved going to the grandchildren’s sports games and taking them on small trips. 

He is survived by his wife Jean; two sons: Ian C. (the late Suzanne (Couturier)) Lamont of Saint John, and Darin (Diane) Lamont; grandson: Derek Lamont of Halifax; two granddaughters: Emily and Isabelle Lamont; half-sister: Diane Shepard; as well as several nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his brothers and sisters in law: Norma Gilliland, Frances Lamont, Donna and Sholly Mills, Ann Foster and Gerry White, Janice and Gary Ross, Edward and Donna London, Gail and John Ross, Wanda London and Rick Lawlor, Fred London, Wayne London and Kathy Scovil, and Donald Geldart. 

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by: brothers and sisters-in-law: Wallace (Patsy, and later Vonnie) Lamont, Sylvia (Harry) Hall, Alexia (Thomas) Hart, Eric (Barb) Lamont, Laureen (Ron) Shonnaman, George Lamont, Colin Lamont, Donald Lamont, Shirley Geldart, Fred Gilliland, Doug Foster, Joyce London, Charles London, Patricia London; and his father and mother-in-law Charles and Mae London.

Thank you to the nurses and staff of 5CS and 5CN for all their care and compassion during Ian’s stay.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB. A visitation will take place on July 9, 2021, from 2 PM to 7 PM. A Funeral Liturgy will take place on July 10, 2021, at 10 AM from the Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel.
