Donnie Stein

Obituary of Donnie Stein

Donnie left this world, peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, on Sunday, February 7, 2021, to be reunited with loved ones who have gone before him.  Donnie is survived by his loving wife, Brenda (Nichols) Stein of 32 years; son, Nick Stein (Abbi McCormick) and fur baby and companion, Coco.

For the majority of Donnie's life, he worked for D. Hatfield Limited.  He was a jack of all trades and there wasn't anything he couldn't do.  Together with his son Nick, they would spend numerous hours fixing up vehicles (and what a beauty the old truck turned out to be).  Donnie was very proud of his son Nick and his accomplishments.  Most of all, Donnie treasured the times with those he loved and will lovingly be remembered by them.  You can always remember Donnie with a smile as you drop your line in the water, as you watch a NASCAR race or if you simply find yourself driving and looking in backyards for parts.

After Donnie's father passed, he had the pleasure of having three father figures to help and guide him - Leroy Hatfield, Scott Filmore and Cecil Nason.  Thank you to all three.

Besides his wife and son he is survived by his loving mother, Georgie (Friars) Stein; sister, Cathy Chevarie (Leo); brother, Brian Stein (Andrea); sister-in-law, Lori Marr (Steven); nieces, Amanda McFeely (Matt), Michelle Stein (Nic) and Kelly Stein (Seth); nephews, Tyler Marr (Amanda) and Brad Marr (Ashley); twin great-nephews, Weston and Wrenley Marr; aunts and uncles, Jen (Frank), Betty, Donna (Roger), Shirley, Judy (Paul), Percy (Marlene), Doug (Glenda) and Hilda (Bob); along with many cousins.  Also left to mourn is Donnie’s second family, Al Nason (Crystal), Leon Nason, Marlene Boone (Eric), Wendy Parker (Lee), Mark Nason (Sandra), Paul Nason (Darlene) and Connie Eales (Bill).

Donnie was predeceased by his father, Don Stein; step-father, Cecil Nason; sister, Debra Stein and grandparents, Melvina and Garfield Friars and George and Lillian Stein; his mother and father-in-law, Jean and Bordie Nichols and precious fur baby, Lady.

We would like to thank Dr. Reiman and the oncology staff for all they did.  The family would also like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the extra mural team and especially his nurse Krista.

Due to the public health restrictions, the visitation and funeral service will be by invitation only.  For those unable to attend, Donnie's service will be livestreamed and can be viewed on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at 1:00 PM by visiting his obituary on Brenan’s website.  Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens.  Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424).

For those who wish, remembrances may be made to a charity of one’s choice.  Online remembrances and condolences may be placed at www.BrenansFH.com.
