Obituary of Blaine Douglas Laskey

It is with deep sadness, and appreciation for a lifetime of memories, that the family of Blaine D. Laskey announces his passing, which occurred on Saturday, May 15, 2021. Born in Saint John on May 6, 1948, he was a son of the late Gordon and Hazel (London) Laskey and is the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Blaine worked for 25 years at the City of Saint John Works Department. He took great pride in his job and enjoyed being able to work outdoors, especially if that meant he could work on his tan. More than anything, Blaine was a family man. He was an amazing father and grandfather and loved spending as much time as he could with them.

Blaine will be missed by the love of his life, Diane (LeBlanc) Laskey; his children, who made him proud every day: Oram Laskey (Bianca) and Angela Breau (Michael) and his honourary children Eleanor Crowley and Jason LeBlanc; his precious grandchildren: Brandon, Tyler and Ashley Breau, and Leyah, Gemma and Sofie Laskey; nieces and nephews Tommy (Teesha), Marilyn (Kevin), Carolyn (Jason), Gordie (Kelly) and George; Sister-in-law Janice LeBlanc; Brothers-in-Law Grenville Ingraham and Mike LeBlanc (Linda); many great nieces, nephews and cousins; and his dog Daisy Mae.

In addition to his parents, Blaine was predeceased by his siblings: Carolyn Laskey, DeeDee Ingraham and Gordie Laskey.

Blaine’s family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the EMP nurses, Julie, Maggie, Bonnie, Veronica and all other EMP support staff; as well as special thanks to 5CN nurses Jessica and Kelly; and from 3BN thanks to Dr. O’Brien, Dr. Wildish, and Nurses Genevieve, Theresa, Jennifer and Sherri.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visitation on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.
