Harold Beson

Obituary of Harold Beson

Peacefully passed away on May 23, 2021 at Saint John Regional Hospital at the age of 71. Born in Grand Falls, Newfoundland; he was the son of the late Harold & Martha (McDonald) Beson.

Harold was a hard worker and an autobody mechanic by trade and was in the business for 42 years. He loved life and was well known for cooking Newfie Jigs in the RV park. Harold was the nicest man on the planet and would give you the shirt off his back if he knew you needed it. His generosity saw him giving countless meals away to friends and family, often stuffing giant turkey roasters with cabbage, turnips, rutabagas, and other traditional Jig ingredients to take to others. Harold was also an avid poker player. Most of all, Harold was a family man. He always made sure they were well looked after, doted on his grandchildren, and was especially fond of his Sheltie dog Rocky.

Survived by his beloved wife Donna of 28 years; children: Tammy, Jason (Lauren): step-son: Kenneth (Helen) Fowler; 4 grandchildren: Alicia, Eric, Olivia, Gabriel; his brothers: David (Anne) Beson, Cyril (Marie) Beson; his sisters: Jenny Gilbert, Shirley Saunders, Norma (Lucien) Banizzi, Patricia (James) Worden, Helen (Paul) Morgan, Christine Amendola, Cathy Eveleigh (Mel), and Joan (Al) Biers; sisters-in-law: Margaret, Loretta, and Pam; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his brothers Michael Murray, John Murray & Kevin Murray, and brothers-in-law Ernie Gilbert, and Raymond Eveleigh.

Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). There will be no services at this time.
