Obituary of David Condie Laird

1939-2021

David Laird, age 81, passed away peacefully on the morning of August 12, 2021, at Rocmaura Nursing home. Predeceased by his parents, David Condie Laird and Barbara Laird.

Husband to the late Ruby Laird (nee Watson) (2012); loving companion to Jay Paradise; brother to Anne (Rico Merlino) Laird, Claude (Renee) Laird; brother in law to Barbara Hachey; Stepfather to Barbie (Luke) Leblanc & Joe McLeod; Uncle to Graham (Stacey) Laird, Sherrie Laird, Ryan and Shelli Kirkey, Kristy (Quinn) Cooper, Billy Bergdahl, Melissa Hachey (Gavin Petticrew), Shawna Hachey (Mark Rinaldi); grandfather to Genevieve Leblanc (Donald King), Luke Leblanc, Thomas (Samantha Lewis) Leblanc, Michael (Kayla) Grant, Kaela (Andy) Grant. 

David had a passion for music and would sing, whistle or hum at any given opportunity, where a beat or tune was present. David was a proud plumber/master fitter for the plumber’s union. He loved golf, volunteering, and spending time with his family. A proud Scotsman who celebrated his roots whenever possible. He will be remembered by his gentle deep blue eyes and kind and patient nature. 

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 16, 2021 at 12:00 PM from Brenan’s Chapel with interment to follow in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery.
