Obituary of Flora Bickford

With heavy hearts, but praising God for a long life well-lived, the family of Flora Bickford, wife of the late Ralph Stevens and Donald Bickford, announce her passing on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at her residence in the Church of St. John and St. Stephen Home. Born March 21, 1929, in Centreville, NS, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Ida (Sabean) Lewis.

Flora was a long-time member of RiverCross Church (formerly Main Street Baptist Church) and of the Friendly Fellowship and Martha Spragg Missionary Group, Wednesday Morning Senior Bowling, PC Organization, Hospital Auxiliary, Harambee Mission Group, and the Senior Games Group.

Flora will be missed by her children: Brenda McKinney (Bill), Gail Stevens, Bruce Stevens, Gary Stevens (Lynda), and Ralph Stevens (Joanne); step-daughter, Faye Clark (Peter); grandchildren: Dean McRae, Shawn Stevens, Stacey Blaney, and Sandra Stevens; great-grandchildren: Alyson and Kyle McRae, Nicholas and Jacob Stevens, Stephanie and Courtney Blaney.

Besides her parents and her first and second husband, Flora was predeceased by brothers: Lawrence, Ernie, Watson, and Frankie; sisters: Rita, Connie, and Joan; step-brothers: Stephen, Ned, Ernest, Bill, and Earl; and step-sister, Winnie.

Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). Visiting will be held from RiverCross Church, 61 Forbes Drive, on Saturday, November 13, 2021, from 12 noon to 1 pm, at which time the funeral service will begin. Due to Covid-19 health measures placed on indoor gatherings by the Government of New Brunswick, all those 12 and older attending the visitation and funeral service will be required to show proof of vaccination and a piece of a government-issued ID, or proof of medical exemption. For those who wish, remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Church of St. John and St. Stephen Home Inc., or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Please place online condolences and remembrances at www.BrenansFH.com.
