Obituary of Winnie Osborne

Winnifred “Winnie” Carmelita Osborne was reunited on November 24, 2021 with those who have gone before her, the love of her life, her spouse, Christopher Osborne Sr.; her children, Beverly Osborne-Cooper and Christopher Gerard Osborne and her grandson, Christopher Lee Court.  A lifelong resident of Saint John, Winnie was born on Manawagonish Road on September 24, 1922.

Winnie was a long-time member of St. Peter’s Church, Holy Trinity Church and Our Lady of the Assumption Church.   She lived a long and happy life, with her greatest joy being the times spent with her loved ones.  She was a born caregiver.  Having raised her siblings from a young age, she went on to marry and had six children.  She continued to take care of her family and raised her granddaughter as well as helped raise her grandson.  She loved her pets and always held a special place in her heart for Sooner, King, Rusty and Cuddles.  Winnie was famous for her tea biscuits, stew and always enjoyed a cup of tea with family.  Her smile and laughter will be greatly missed.  Winnie will be remembered as loving, strong, kind, humble, a faithful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and dearest of friends to those who knew her.  May she rest in eternal peace.

Winnie is survived by four devoted children, Gertrude Osborne, Geraldine Osborne, Joseph (Patsy) Osborne and Bliss (Ivan) Court; as well as the granddaughter she raised as her own, Bliss (Ricky) Fulton.  Nana and Nanny to her grandchildren, Derrick (Nancy) Osborne, Mark Osborne, Tricia (Jeff) Osborne-Parker, Derek MacDonald of Vancouver, Robert (Simone) Dooley of Ontario, Nicole (Jamie) Court, Jeffrey (Stephanie) Court and Christopher (Melissa) Osborne.  Winnie will also be lovingly remembered by her great-grandchildren, Michael (Jennifer) Fulton, Jennifer Fulton, Rick (Alanna) Fulton, Sarah (Felix) Rancourt of Quebec, Samantha (Chris) Wall of Alberta, Carter Mirhady of British Columbia, Tristan Court-Randell, Madison Morrisey, Christopher, Jenna, Jeffrey and Allison Court, Scarlett and Gabriel Parker, Christopher and Walter Osborne, Samantha, Alexandra and David Dooley and Rebecca Smith; great-great-grandchildren, Michael, Christopher, Tanner, Cara and Gunnar Fulton and Cedric, Watson and Hector Wall; her brothers, Allen Dow, Robert (Norma) Dow and Thomas (Carol) Dow of California.  Winnie will be missed by her niece and faithful friend, Glenna Doucet, who called her every evening to say goodnight; Msgr. Brian Sheehan, her friend and confidant who would visit, play the piano and sing for her; along with several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her parents, George and Kathleen (Baltus) Dow; siblings, Daniel, James, Agnes Casey, George, Anne Joyce and Hazen; as well as sisters-in-law, Marie and Edna.

Winnie’s family would like to thank the staff of 5CNorth and 5CSouth at the Saint John Regional Hospital for their dedicated care.
