Obituary of Update*** Susan Hickey

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Susan Dawn Hickey (Brennan) announces her passing on January 17, 2022.  Susan was born on April 13, 1961 in Harvey Station, NB to Donald and Ellen (Osgood) Brennan.  She married the love of her life Tim Hickey on October 2, 1982 and lived a large portion of her married life in the Saint John area.

Susan was dedicated to her role as a wife and mother.  She loved her husband and children and treasured every moment she had with them.  She especially loved her role as a grandmother.  She gave all those around her unconditional love and support. Susan was an exceptional chef, and she often showed her love through her cooking.

Susan was also an active member of her community.  She could be found at various sporting events cheering on her children, and later, her grandchildren in whatever activity they chose.  She spent her winters snowmobiling with her husband and their dear friends.  The summers were spent at the camp on Palfrey Lake, where you could often find her with a book, sitting under the umbrella on the boat, or laughing with her welcomed friends.

Always one to be behind the scenes, she made a difference in the lives of many.  She was a treasured addition to any gathering, and always the hostess, she made everyone feel welcome.  She loved to laugh and was always supportive and encouraging to all those around her.  She was a strong, courageous woman who fought hard for those she loved.

Susan is survived by her loving husband, Tim Hickey; her mother, Ellen Brennan; her children, Jordy (Hailey) Hickey and Julie (Justin) Sullivan; her brothers and sisters, Veniene (Bernie) Regenbogen, Glen (Tammy) Brennan, Danny (Tracy) Brennan and Heidi (Greg) Hanlon; sisters-in-law, Vaunna Frenette, Laurel Hickey, Eleanor (Frank) Carroll and Judy (Stephen) McIntyre; as well as her four adoring grandchildren, Lauren, Timothy, Mitchell and Ellie.  Susan was predeceased by her father, Donald Brennan and brothers-in-law, Al Frenette and Rodney Hickey.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM.  A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated from Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 360 Dufferin Row, Saint John on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 and will be by invitation only (guests are asked to enter the church using the side parking lot doors).  Due to Covid-19 health measures placed on indoor gatherings by the Government of New Brunswick, all those 12 and older attending the visitation and service will be required to show proof of vaccination and a piece of government-issued ID or proof of medical exemption.  For those unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed and can be viewed by visiting Susan’s obituary on the Brenan’s website.

**Please note that services will only take place if restrictions have been lifted.

For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Bobby’s Hospice.
