Obituary of Thelma Tays

It is with an appreciation for a life well lived, that the family of Thelma Tays, announce her passing which occurred on Monday, January 11, 2021 at the Church of St. John and St. Stephen Home.  Born in Titusville, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Freda (Provan) Kilpatrick.

Thelma always took great comfort in her faith and was an active member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.  She loved her church community and enjoyed her time singing in the choir, participating with the Women’s Missionary Group and serving as past church clerk and teller.  Thelma truly loved volunteering and was the recipient of a provincial award in recognition of the numerous hours she spent helping and serving her community.   Her dedication to service and her kindness will be forever remembered by all who knew her.

 

Thelma will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Pauline Haslett (Bill) of Saint John; daughter-in-law, Gail Dupuis (Normand) of Saint John; grandchildren, Laura Biggs (Christopher) and Geoffrey Smith; precious great-granddaughter, Ella; along with nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Harold Smith; second husband, Ernest Tays; son, Eldon Smith; daughter, Karla Tays and sister, Doreen Smith.

 

Due to current health restrictions, a private graveside service will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery.  A public memorial service will take place at a later date.  Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424).

 

For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Cornerstone Baptist Church, the Kidney Foundation of Canada (Atlantic Canada Branch), Heart and Stroke Foundation of NB or to the SJRH Women’s Auxiliary.
