Obituary of Robert Eldon Geldart

The death of Robert Eldon Geldart Occurred on Sunday, March 14, 2021, at Shannex-Tucker Hall Nursing Home. Bob was born and educated in Saint John. He was actively involved with the YMCA during the summer months as a counselor at Camp Pascobasc for many years. Bob attended Modern Business College before joining the C.P.R. He spent the next 40 years working for various subsidiaries of Canadian Pacific traveling extensively. During his working career, he spent two years sailing on the North Atlantic on the “Empress” ships between Saint John/Montreal and Liverpool and he cruised for many years in the Mediterranean and Caribbean. Bob resided in Quebec City, Chicago, London, The Hague, Holland, and Montreal. At the time of his retirement in 1986, he was General Manager of Traffic for Canada Maritime Agencies Ltd.

 

Following his retirement, he was the co-leader of the Cruise Ship Meet and Greet volunteers for the Port of Saint John for ten years.

 

Bob is survived by his partner, Sally Murphy. He was the last surviving member of his family. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy (Mason), and son Rob.

 

Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 18, 2021, from 3:00 – 7:00 PM. The funeral service will be held on Friday, March 19, 2021, in the Brenan’s Chapel at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to St. Marks Church, Salvation Army, YMCA, or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
