Obituary of Brian John Cunningham

It is with heavy hearts, the family of Brian J. Cunningham, announce his passing in his 69th year on October 31st, 2021, at the Shannex Tucker Hall Retirement Home in Saint John. Brian was born on December 11th, 1952, in Montreal, Quebec to the late John and Ann (nee Devlin) Cunningham.

Graduating from the University of New Brunswick in 1975, Brian worked as a Civil Engineer. He was an entrepreneur who started his own construction company Que-Mar Construction, in 1980, which he ran for almost 30 years. Brian also went on to be part-owner of the flight schools in both Moncton and Fredericton, as well as cranberry field in Maugerville, NB. He was a very active volunteer who sat on many boards and committees including Saint John Energy and the City of Saint John Planning Advisory Committee. Brian could be described as an active man who loved fly fishing, the outdoors, sports, as well as spending his winters in Florida. For the past five years, you could rest assured that TSN was always on when Brian was watching television. He was also involved in his community as a member of the Association for Professional Engineers and the Salmon Federation. Brian had a big heart and a zest for life, anyone who knew him understood how he always loved to have fun.

Brian is survived by his loving children Christy (Troy) and Michael (Meagan); grandchildren Avery, Luke, Felicia, Maddox, Maclean, and Manning; siblings Ann (Claude) and Karen (Brian); sister-in-law Joanne; nephews Sean and Devon; and nieces Amanda and Katrina. He is predeceased by his brother James.
