Obituary of Janice Ann Boulos

It is with great love that the family of Janice “Jan” (LeBlanc) Boulos announce her passing. She was born in Boston, Massachusetts on June 12, 1939, to J. Arthur and Irene Estelle (Gregoire) LeBlanc. She was a proud graduate of Archbishops Williams High School 57’ and Framingham State University 61’.

Jan met the love of her life, Dr. Anthony N. Boulos in Quincy, Mass, where they married on June 17, 1961. Together they moved to Canada and their love story spanned 60 years. They shared a passion for each other, their family and the water. Long-time RKYC members, they sailed the Phoenician Ark up the St. John River, down the coast of Maine, and in the British Virgin Islands with family and friends. Mom was the consummate hostess and loved to cook and entertain. She was a real lady who taught their two chosen children, Preston John Boulos and Paulette Jeanine (Boulos) Tingley manners, kindness and how to set a table properly.

Jan worked at the General Hospital as a dietitian until she retired early to care for her mother. She followed in her mother’s footsteps and joined the hospital auxiliary, where she was president from 91-94. She received her lifetime volunteer pin after dedicating hundreds of hours of volunteering. She spearheaded and was also part of many projects including festival of trees, teddy bear fair, the gift shop, hair kare korner and the 75th anniversary cookbook to name a few.

Jan leaves to cherish her memory, her husband Tony, son Preston (Sherry) and grandchildren Kyle and Jacob; daughter Paulette (John) and grandchildren Zachary (Jenna-Mae), Sarah (Liam), and Oliver (Jess); great-grandchild Allister (son of Zachary and Jenna-Mae) and many other relatives and friends.

Jan was predeceased by her mother and father, her aunt, Gustava Lynch and her cousins Lee and Fran Boudreau.

Jan, Grammie Jan, Nannie, Mom, Auntie Janice will be greatly missed.

Heartfelt thanks to some special caregivers at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Extra- Mural, and Kennebec Manor, you know who you are. Thank you to Dr.’s MacKinnon and Spear and nurse Nicole at the SJRH for giving us the gift of a bit more time with her.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visitation on Sunday, December 12, 2021, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 13, 2021, at 11:00 AM from Holy Redeemer Parish (St. Pius X), 316 Somerset Street, Saint John. Due to Covid-19 health measures placed on indoor gatherings by the Government of New Brunswick, all those 12 and older attending the visitation and service will be required to show proof of vaccination and a piece of government-issued ID or proof of medical exemption. In lieu of flowers, a donation would be welcomed in her memory to the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation, Saint John Regional Hospital Auxiliary Foundation or Saint John SPCA Animal Rescue.
