Donna Steele

Obituary of Donna Noreen Steele

It is with heavy hearts the family of Donna Steele announce her passing on January 10, 2022, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Donna was born in Saint John on November 4, 1941, to the late Arvilla (Babe) and Harold (Pete) Steele.

She attended Simonds High School and was very active in many sports, especially basketball. She worked many years for National Drug and Courtney Drug and Corporatal.

Following retirement, she moved from East Saint John to the Belleisle. She loved to fish, work in her garden, and enjoyed burning brush (especially with a cool one by her side). She loved to sit on the deck and watch the ferries go by. Donna enjoyed country drives, going to country breakfasts and dinners. She loved watching the Patriots’ football games, especially Tom Brady. She enjoyed watching curling, and in 2014 she volunteered for the World Curling held in Saint John. She also volunteered for Festival by the Sea. In recent years she took part in exercise classes, though not her favourite thing to do.

Donna is survived by sisters, Carolyn (Erroll) Hatfield and Lynn Ginn; brother, Gary (Julie) Steele; sister-in-law, Wendy Steele; and special friend, Sharon Jeffrey. Donna was a special aunt to Wayne and Terry Hatfield, Brian and Jeff Ginn, Jennifer and Peter Steele, and Rob and Alex Steele. She is also survived by many cousins and good friends.

Donna was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Harold; brother-in-law, Lloyd Ginn; and baby niece, Donna Charlotte Steele.

Donna’s family would like to thank the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at the Saint John Regional Hospital for the excellent care they gave Donna.
