Obituary of Barbara Jean Main

It is with great sadness that the family of Barbara Jean Main announce her passing on November 19, 2023, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Jean was born to Winnifred and Kenneth Johnson on January 26, 1935. After attending Saint John Regional High School and Teacher’s College, she taught both Grade 3 and ‘at home’ students. In 1955, Jean married her high school sweetheart, Robert William Main (deceased), with whom she had two children Susan (Peter Yurkiw) and David (Paula Hamilton); grandchildren Peter Yurkiw and Jennifer Yurkiw.

She lived life in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Ontario where she always created a home away from home. In 1999, Jean and Bob retired to a small ‘gentleman’s farm’ in Apohaqui, NB. No matter where, her church was her community and extended family. Activities such as the Anglican Church Women, Church Homes, and Bible Study held her time. 

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of 3BN Floor, SJRH for their compassionate care.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506-634-7424). A Funeral Service will take place from The Trinity Anglican Church in Sussex, 853 Main Street, Sussex, NB, on Thursday, November 23, 2023, at 1:00 PM.
