Larry Cleghorn

Obituary of Larry Arthur Cleghorn

It is with great sadness that the family of Larry Arthur Cleghorn announce his passing, surrounded by his loved ones on Sunday, November 26, 2023, at the age of 71 at Hospice House in Fredericton.

Larry is the second oldest of nine siblings, born and raised in Tweedside, NB by his parents Alton & Madelin (Hood).  There was always a loving bond between him and his siblings. He spent his career working for NBTel. He was a "Jack of all trades" kind of guy. Year after year, he and his family faithfully tipped and made Christmas wreaths along with cutting pulp and firewood on their hobby farm as a side business.

Larry will be remembered as that go-to-kind-of-guy for just about everything in the community and surrounding areas, from needing a phone line run, to a house/garage wired, to a roof needing repaired, to a tree cut or just some advice needed. He would always take the time to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.  There was never a quick conversation/visit or phone call with Larry as he loved to chat and interact with everyone.  He was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be missed by everyone around him for his positivity and hospitality.

Larry loved spending his time with the love of his life of 48 years, Heather (Wilson) and his children Ryan (Tina MacKay) of Harvey, NB and Sharon (Daniel Roberts) of Fort Saskatchewan, AB, and his three cherished grandchildren Colby, Brooke and Damian. He was a true family man. He and Heather enjoyed many travels together.  They've visited Australia, Fiji, New Zealand, Alaska and many parts of Canada.

The man of nine lives we say, battled his fight with Lyme and kidney failure, but in the end lost his brave fight to cancer with dignity and grace.

A special thank you to all the staff at Hospice House for their utmost care and support in making Larry feel most comfortable.

As per Larry's wishes, no funeral services will be held.  A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Brenan’s Funeral Home (506-634-7424).
