Obituary of Lyla Harmoni Nezahat Coyle
COYLE, LYLA HARMONI NEZAHAT
Heaven received its most precious angel on January 13, 2024. Our beautiful daughter’s sudden, shocking, devastating, but brief and courageous battle with cancer ended as she entered Heaven on her own terms peacefully with us holding her hands. She was lucid to the very end. Though her body was consumed by this horrific disease, her bright, beautiful smile and sparkling blue eyes remained unchanged. Even under such painful circumstances, she was thoughtful and considerate toward others, appreciative of the care that she received, wise and reassuring to us. She was a true angel, and a blessing to those fortunate enough to have their lives touched by her. We were honoured to be her parents for the brief time we were with her.
She told us how happy she had always been with the life the three of us shared and said she wanted us to provide support for each other. Even in her final moments, she thought about others’ well-being. Thank you, our perfect angel Lyla, for being our daughter. Sleep now, our little girl. You are free from cancer, and from the worries of the world, surrounded by love in heaven. This world was never good enough for one as beautiful as you.
Lyla graduated from Saint John High School with High Honours in the I.B. program, received her B.A. with first class honours in Psychology at UNBSJ, took graduate courses in Psychology from the University of Chicago, trained as a legal assistant, worked in the insurance industry, and co-owned two businesses with her mother: “Butterfly Gardens Art” and “Acacia Leaf Press”. She was planning on entering the new BSW program at UNBSJ in September 2024.
Lyla will be deeply missed by her parents, Summer Earl-Coyle, and Leo Coyle. Always quiet, gentle, altruistic, and unassuming, she was the one bright light in a sometimes dark world.
A very special thank you to the staff members of the Oncology Unit, the Palliative Care Team, the Spiritual Care Team, the Emergency Department, and the Paramedics who transported her, for providing kindness, comfort, and professional care to Lyla. We would also like to thank friends and neighbours who provided support and comfort to us, especially Vera and Sully. Also, a belated thank you to Doug who lost his struggle with cancer in September of 2023, but who taught the three of us valuable lessons about coping with such a devastating and sometimes life ending disease.
