Obituary of Valerie Jean Fennell

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our mother, Valerie Jean Fennell (Clark), on March 20th, 2024, at Bobby's Hospice after a lengthy battle with cancer. 

Valerie was born on April 11th, 1943, in Saint John, NB to Tressa Clark (Green) and Everett Clark.

Valerie was predeceased by her loving husband of over 50 years, Paul Fennell. 

Valerie is survived by her daughters Colleen Fennell (Blaine) of Eastern Passage NS, Erinn Fennell of Saint John NB; grandchildren Katelyn Pettigrew (Phil) of Saint John NB, Geordie Macdonald of Vancouver BC and Rory Fennell of Saint John NB; great grandchild Logan Pettigrew of Saint John NB; sister Tressa White (Laurie) of Quispamsis NB, brother Robert Clark (Mary) of Quispamsis NB as well as many loved nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

Valerie was predeceased by her mother Tressa Clark, brother Brian Clark and sister Judy Kane.

Valerie had a lengthy career at Dominion Stores in Saint John, Toronto and Dartmouth as a bookkeeper. She also worked as a master payroll clerk at the first Irving Refinery expansion and at Point Lepreau during the building of the plant.

Valerie enjoyed being a volunteer, giving her time to Westfield Ambulance, Girl Guides of Canada, Meals on Wheels, Westfield Home, and School Association. She had also been part of Run for the Cure, Breasts Ahoy Dragon Boat team as well as Beta Sigma Phi.

Valerie had a passion for travel and adventure and she and Paul traveled extensively over their years together.

Valerie thoroughly enjoyed her years as a "Winter Texan" with Paul in Southern Texas. 

Valerie loved to cook and entertain, and she was famous among her family and friends for her skills. She was also an avid reader and was never without a book on the go. Valerie truly loved music and dancing and would never turn down the opportunity to enjoy either.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506-634-7424) Visitation will take place on Monday March 25th, 2024, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from The Brenan's Chapel on Tuesday, March 26th, 2024, beginning at 2:00 PM. It would be appreciated if any donations be directed to Bobby's Hospice.
