Obituary of Dawn Marie Larsen

With sadness, we share the news of Dawn Marie (McCarthy) Larsen's peaceful passing in Saint John on May 4, 2024. Born in Saint John in 1938 to James and Bertha McCarthy, Dawn leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth. She is survived by her partner Gary Gill and her children Kirsten Robichaud (Paul), Peter Larsen, Mary Larsen, and Steven (Wendy) Larsen. Dawn's presence will forever be cherished by her grandchildren: Sean Furey, Paul Furey, David Furey, Kenneth Larsen, Duncan Larsen, Maia Bautista, Anne Larsen, Maggie Larsen, and Hugh Larsen. Nieces and nephews: Bryce Melanson, Lisa Melanson, Lynn McCarthy, Jennifer Parker, Fraser Parker, Cynthia Parker, Caroline Larsen, and Melissa Larsen.  She is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Larsen, her parents, sister Carmal (McCarthy) Melanson, and brother Daniel McCarthy.

Throughout her life, Dawn embodied selflessness and compassion, always extending a helping hand to those in need. Her dedication to her family and grandchildren knew no bounds, as she provided unwavering support and nurturing care. Whether cheering them on at events or simply being there when needed, Dawn's love and generosity was infinite.

Dawn graduated from St. Vincent's High School in 1957, finding joy in reconnecting with classmates at the annual reunions. Pursuing her passion for nursing, she graduated from Saint Joseph's School of Nursing in 1961, forging deep connections and maintaining lifelong friendships.  Known for her sense of humor, Dawn endeared herself to all she met, often seen encouraging others with her trademark phrase, "let's strike a deal."

Her zest for life was evident in her love for sailing, gardening, and enjoying summers in Belleisle. With Gary Gill by her side, she relished traveling, concerts, watching Seinfeld, and embracing new experiences.

The family expresses heartfelt appreciation to the compassionate staff at the Shannex in Millidgeville for their kindness and support during difficult times. Dawn's absence leaves a void in the lives of all who knew her.
